The RON device is an infrared imager attached to an F-18 for measuring exhaust temperatures of other aircraft. The manufacturer sent a humorous memo to the Navy clarifying that it wasn't designed for tracking 'flying saucers'.
"The speaker describes the RON device used by the Navy, which is relevant to the discussion about identifying aircraft and the limitations of the technology. Even though it is commercially created, this does not lend itself for consumer purchase. Therefore, marking it as false."
